# Set up Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)
## BNPL lets clients pay for eligible purchases in installments through Affirm or Klarna. You're paid in full upfront, and the provider collects the installments. Affirm launches October 7; Klarna is coming soon.
### **Before you start**
- **Who can set it up:** the business owner, or the franchise owner for franchises.
- **Cost:** 5.99% + $0.30 per BNPL transaction.
- **Eligible items:** retail products, appointments and appointment drop-ins, non-recurring video courses, one-time packages and credit bundles, and enrollments paid in full.
- **Check your settings:** packages and credit bundles must be set to **does not auto renew**, and enrollments must not use a Walla payment plan, or BNPL won't appear at checkout.
### **Turn on BNPL**
1. Go to **Payment options → self setup**.
2. Review the rate, the excluded purchase types, the refund rules, and the locations being enabled.
3. Check the box to accept the terms.
4. Turn on BNPL.
One setting enables both Affirm and Klarna for all your active locations, including any you add later.
### **How clients pay**
**Widget and app:** At checkout, the client selects Affirm or Klarna, completes the application with the provider, and returns to the Walla confirmation screen. If declined, they can choose another payment method without losing their cart.
**Front desk:**
1. Ring up the purchase on the Stripe Terminal.
2. The client scans the QR code with their own phone.
3. The client completes the application and chooses their payment terms.
4. The payment settles through the Terminal.
**Important:** Staff must never fill out a client's application or choose a plan for them. This is a provider requirement, and breaking it can end your BNPL access.
### **Turn off BNPL**
Go back to **Payment options → self setup**, turn off BNPL, and confirm.
