# Change Instructor or Substitute a Class | Walla Support Center

How to make instructor class schedule updates and how they appear on the schedule

Depending on how you make the update, these methods have different effects on how the change appears on the schedule and how it affects future classes. We call this out in each section below so you know what to expect when making a schedule change. It is important to note that there is not an option to have the instructor display as a sub or to not display as a sub when making staff schedule updates.

### Change Instructor or Make a Substitution via the Class Schedule

Update an instructor for a specific date. The change will appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Schedule**
2. Find the class on the schedule you want to make the substitution for
3. Choose **three dots** on the far right
4. Choose **Edit this instance**
5. Select the **new instructor** and their **pay rate**
6. **Save**

Update an instructor for a specific date. The change will appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Schedule**
2. Find the class on the schedule you want to make the substitution for
3. Choose three dots on the far right and choose **Change Instructor**
4. Select the **new instructor** and their **pay rate**
5. **Save**

1. From the navigation menu select **Schedule**
2. Find the class on the schedule you want to make the substitution for
3. Choose three dots on the far right and choose **Edit All**
4. Select a **start date** and choose **the same date for the end date**
5. Select the **new instructor** and their **pay rate**
6. **Save**

5. Select the **new instructor** and their **pay rate**
6. **Save**

Update an instructor from a date forward. The change will not appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Schedule**
2. Find the class on the schedule you want to make the substitution for
3. Choose three dots on the far right and choose **Edit All**
4. Select a **start date** and do not select an end date
5. Select the new instructor and their pay rate
6. **Save**

Update an instructor for a specific date. The change appears as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Classes**
2. Find the class you want to make the substitution for and choose **Go**
3. Select a class instance from the schedule
4. Choose **Edit the specific instance**
5. Select the **new instructor** and **their pay rate**
6. **Save**

Edit an instructor from a specific date forward. Select a start date and do not choose an end date. The change will not appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Classes**
2. Find the class you want to make the substitution for and choose **Go**
3. Select a class instance from the schedule
4. Choose **Edit All**
5. Select a **start date** and **do not select an end date**
6. Select the **new instructor** and **their pay rate**
7. **Save**

Edit an instructor for a specific date range. Select a start date and choose an end date.

The change will appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Classes**
2. Find the class you want to make the substitution for and choose **Go**
3. Select a **class instance** from the schedule
4. Choose **Edit All**
5. Select a **start date** and select an **end date that is not the same date as the current date**
6. Select the **new instructor** and **their pay rate**
7. **Save**

Edit an instructor for a specific date without the having the instructor display as a substitution. The change will appear as a substitution on the schedule.

1. From the navigation menu select **Classes**
2. Find the class you want to make the substitution for and choose **Go**
3. Select a class instance from the schedule
4. Choose **Edit All**
5. Select a **start date** and for the **end date choose the same date**
6. Select the **new instructor** and their **pay rate**
7. **Save**
