The Plan Gain/Loss Report helps you track all active client plans and how they change over time. It compares plan statuses from the last day of the current month to the last day of the previous month.
You can filter this report by plan type, member status, or plan status to monitor growth, retention, and revenue location changes across your business.
How to Use the Report
Hover over any bar in the graph to see a snapshot of the month, including total plans, growth rate, retention, and a breakdown by status (New, Returning, Expired, Canceled, Changed, Transferred).
Click a bar to drill into the full list of plans for that month. You’ll see every plan categorized by its current status.
Use the Plan Type filter to view specific types of plans—such as Intro Offers, Limited/Unlimited, Credit Bundles, VOD, or Comp Passes.
The Plan Status filter lets you choose which statuses to include in the graph—helpful if you want to focus on just Changed and Canceled, for example.
Check the box to show only plans that currently grant member status if you want to limit your view to active, membership-based plans.
How Plan Statuses Are Measured
Statuses are determined as of the last day of the selected month
Compared against the last day of the previous month
For the current month, data reflects status up to today’s date
Example: If today is August 10, totals are based on plan activity from August 1–10.
Plan Status Key
Status | Description |
New | Plans that began during the selected period. These clients did not have an active plan of this type in the prior period. |
Returning | Plans that were already active at the start of the period and remain active through the end of the period. These plans started before this month at the same location. |
Expired / Completed | Plans that ended during the selected period, either by:
|
Canceled | Plans that were canceled during the selected period, regardless of when they started. This includes early cancellations and mid-month cancellations. Plans that were scheduled to cancel in the future are not included until the cancel date is reached. |
Transferred In | Plans that were assigned to a new location during this period due to a home location change. The plan now “belongs” to this location for revenue purposes. Only appears when filtering by specific locations. Plan must have started before the period and still be active (not canceled or finished). |
Transferred Out | Plans that were moved away from this location during the period. The plan's home location was changed to another studio, so revenue no longer applies to the original location. Only shown when filtering by specific locations. Must still be active. |
Changed | Plans that started this period as a result of using the Plan Change feature an on existing plan to This includes upgrades, downgrades, or lateral switches (e.g., changing from 4x/month to Unlimited). The plan is counted as “New” but labeled as “Changed” to clarify that it came from an existing customer who already had a plan. |

📈 Net Plans
# Net Plans
🔻**–% vs previous month**
Net Plans is the total number of active plans at the end of this month (including new, returning, and changed plans).
The red or green arrows and percentage show a the percentage change compared to the previous month.
📉 Summary Line
Here is an example: You started the month with 229 plans. During the month you lost 2 plans for a retention rate of 99.13%.
This means there were 229 plans active on September 30.
2 plans expired or were canceled by the end of October.
Retention rate = % of previous plans still active at the end of the current month.
➕ Growth Summary
Here is an example: You added 1 plan which resulted in a net loss of 1 plan
Your growth rate this month was –0.44%.
1 new plan was sold this month.
However, because 2 were lost, the net result is a decrease of 1 total active plan.
This is why the net count dropped from 229 to 228.
