Editing Plan Settings: What You Can (and Can’t) Change

This article reviews which settings can be updated for past and future sales.

Updated over a week ago

Walla gives you the flexibility to update both past and future plan sales—so you can adapt quickly as things change. But keep in mind: some settings are locked, and others only apply to future purchases.

Edit a Plan Configuration

To make changes to a plan, follow these steps

  1. Go to Plan Management from the main navigation

  2. Click on the plan you want to update

  3. Use the green ✏️ Edit icon in the top right of any section

  4. Make your changes

  5. Click Save

💡 A pop-up asking “Update all plans?” means your change can apply to past and future sales

🚫 No pop-up means the setting is only editable for future sales, or not editable at all

Client notifications after updating pricing for past sales

For past sales, updating the price for a recurring plan and selecting Apply to all pre-existing accounts and future purchases will update a client's upcoming payment and all payments thereafter. When updated, your client will receive an email notifying them of the price change.

What You Can and Can’t Edit

Here’s a breakdown of editable settings by type:

✅ Editable for Past and Future Sales

These will trigger a confirmation pop-up when saved

  • Plan name and description

  • Classes covered

  • Member status

  • Access and commitment

  • Payment amount

  • Perks and benefits

  • VOD access

  • Guest passes

  • Early termination fees

🕒 Editable for Future Sales Only

No pop-up will appear when saving these

  • Plan start date

  • First payment due date

  • Purchase restrictions

  • One-time purchase settings

  • Policies and contracts

  • Online listing visibility

🔒 Not Editable

  • What happens after commitment ends

  • Introductory discounts

  • Auto-renew settings

  • Member discounts

What Happens When You Update Pricing for Past Sales

If you update a recurring plan price and apply it to pre-existing accounts, it will:

  • Update the client’s next payment and all future payments

  • Trigger an automatic email letting them know about the change

When Plan Changes Go Into Effect

When applied to existing accounts, updates take effect at:

  • The next billing cycle

  • The next payment date

  • The next plan renewal

Example: A plan renews on the 1st of each month. You make changes on the 15th — the updates will apply starting on the 1st of the following month.

What Happens if You Already Edited the Client’s Plan

If a client’s payment schedule was manually adjusted under their profile, that custom schedule will not be overwritten by changes made in Plan Management. The system will preserve any manual edits.

Marketing Suite Friendly Reminder

Changing the plan start date type can affect automations.
If an automation was tied to a plan’s original start date, it may no longer run as expected after the change.
