Appointment Deposits

Updated over 11 months ago

If you'd like to have your client partially pay for an appointment in advance when they book a drop-in appointment, set an appointment deposit. Appointment deposits are set at global level. In other words, the deposit percentage you enter applies to all appointment types at all locations.

Appointment deposits can not be customized on the appointment or location level. If you need to charge a client a different deposit amount, you can temporarily change the deposit amount under Business Settings but not under the appointment checkout screen.

To access your appointment deposit settings follow these steps:

  1. Select Business Settings

  2. Choose Appointment Settings

  3. Choose the Edit pencil at the top right of the deposit page

  4. Enter a percentage to charge your client when the appointment is booked

  5. Select Save

If you'd like to charge a different deposit amount for a particular appointment, you can temporarily change the appointment deposit amount prior to booking the client's appointment. You will need to change the deposit amount back to the original amount after booking the clients appointment.

  1. Before booking the client's appointment, go to Business Settings

  2. Choose Appointment Settings

  3. Choose the Edit pencil at the top right of the deposit page

  4. Enter or update a percentage to charge your client when the appointment is booked

  5. Select Save

  6. Go to the Appointment Schedule and book the appointment

  7. Once the appointment is booked, go back to Business Settings

  8. Choose Appointment Settings

  9. Choose the Edit pencil at the top right of the deposit page

  10. Enter or update a percentage to charge your client when the appointment is booked

  11. Select Save

Deposit Late Cancel/No-Show Policies

If a client late cancels or no-shows a drop-in appointment after paying a deposit, you can determine whether that deposit is retained or refunded in the Appointment Settings. The deposit refund policy is controlled by the "Limited/Drop-In Policy" settings, which allow you to configure separate rules for late cancellations and no-shows.

If "will also lose" is selected in the below setting, the deposit will not be refunded.

If "do not lose" is selected in the below setting, the deposit will be refunded.

The deposit refund occurs immediately after the late cancel occurs.
