Promo Codes | Walla Support Center
Promotions and Promo Codes give you extensive control over customer discounts, letting you set exactly which purchases qualify, how long a promotion runs, and how each code can be redeemed.
Creating a Promotion
Promotions are created from the Marketing Center.
Step 1: Set Promotion Name and Discount
- From the main navigation menu, select Marketing
- Choose Promo Codes
- Select + Add New Promotion
- Enter your promotion name (this is the name that will appear on receipts)
- Enter the discount as a percentage or dollar amount
Step 2: Set What the Promotion Applies To
Apply by category: The promotion applies to any checked categories from the following list: Retail, Enrollments, Drop-ins (Classes), Plans, Courses, Appointments (Single Sessions, not Plans)
Apply to specific items: The promotion applies only to specific items within a selected category. Available categories: Plans and Retail
Step 3: Set the Promotion Timeframe
This determines how long the promotion is valid, which matters most for plans with multiple payments.
- All Payments: The plan auto-renews with every payment discounted
- Just Once: Only the first payment is discounted; renewals are not discounted
- # of Payments: Only the number of payments you specify receive the discount; no further discounts apply after that
Step 4: Set the Promotion Expiration Date
Choose the date your promotion code should expire. Codes created under this promotion can no longer be redeemed after 11:59 PM on the selected date.
Select Save to save the promotion and create promo codes later, or select Save & Add Promo Code to continue and add codes now.
Step 5: Create Promo Codes
Enter the code you'll give to customers (for example, NEWYEAR2022). If you leave this field blank, a random code is generated for you.
Step 6: Set Promo Code Restrictions (optional)
Any of the following restrictions may be applied to a promo code:
- Limit the total number of redemptions: This caps the total number of times the code can be used across all customers, not per customer. For example, if you set this to 20 and give the code to 20 customers, one customer using it 5 times leaves only 15 redemptions remaining for everyone else.
- Limit redemptions per customer: Typically set to 1, this caps how many times a single customer can redeem the code.
- Promo code expiration date: Set a separate expiration date for this specific code.
- Require a minimum order: Set a dollar amount that must be met before the code can be applied. This can be calculated before or after tax.
- Restrict to first-time customers: Only customers with no purchase history are eligible. Any customer who already has purchase history won't qualify.
- Restrict to specific customers: Limit use of the code to selected customers only.
Step 7: Save and Add Additional Codes
After saving your code, you can view the promotion's details and its promo codes. To add more codes, scroll to the bottom of the promotion page and select Add Code.
Reuse an Expired Promo Code
- Open the promotion containing the expired promo code
- Select the three dots to the right of the code
- Select Archive and confirm
- Select Add New Code within the same promotion
- Enter the new code and its details
- Save
View Promo Code Redemptions
- From the main navigation menu, select Marketing Center
- Choose Promo Codes
- Select the promo code
- Select the three dots on the far right and choose View Redemptions, or select the number listed under the Redemptions column
