At Walla, weâre all about making your studioâs transition as smooth and stress-free as possible. When it comes to transferring your clientsâ credit card information into Walla, thereâs a bit of behind-the-scenes magic involvedâespecially since all payments in Walla run through Stripe. Whether youâre switching from another platform or moving your own Stripe account, weâve got you covered with everything you need to know to keep the good vibes (and auto-payments!) flowing.
đł Step One: Know Your Migration Type
Before anything else, itâs essential to confirm the type of migration youâre doing:
Stripe-to-Stripe Migration: This means youâre migrating data from your own Stripe account with you to your new Walla Stripe Account âmaybe itâs one youâve been using for your studio independently (or through your software like Momence or MarianaTek).
Third-Party Migration: This is when your Stripe account is tied to your previous software provider (like Mindbody or Paragon, or WellnessLiving).
Knowing the difference helps us set you up for success from day one!
đ How Payment Method Transfers Work
Stripe keeps customer payment data locked down for privacy and security. Thatâs a good thingâbut it also means:
We can only transfer credit cards that are linked to customer emails.
Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other payment options wonât be included in the migration.
If there are issues like duplicate emails, typos, or shared accounts, it could affect the accuracy of the transfer.
đŻ Pro Tip: Review your client list and clean up any email inconsistencies before migration day!
𧊠Stripe-to-Stripe Migration: Quick & Clean
If youâre doing a Stripe-to-Stripe transfer, timing is everything!
Your payment data must be migrated on the day you switch to Walla.
Walla will begin processing payments the very next day, so everything needs to be in place to avoid disruption!
đ Third-Party Migration: A Little More Prep Required
Migrating from another payment processor? No problemâweâve done it many times before. Hereâs how it works:
Weâll need your current software repâs contact info so we can securely request your payment data via PGP encryption (fancy, secure tech stuff).
Thereâs a minimum 1-week billing adjustment period after your migration.
Your first payments in Walla will begin 7 days after your migration date unless discussed with your migration rep.
Just remember, what we can bring over depends on what your old system has stored.
đ¨ What If a Clientâs Payment Info Doesnât Transfer?
Hey, it happens. Hereâs how to handle it:
Double-check upcoming auto payments so there are no surprises.
If a client has a membership but no card on file, the fastest fix is for them to re-enter their payment info directly through Walla (or you can do it manually if needed).
