When creating an event, you may want to offer different payment options for your attendees. This can include a donation-based event, a choose your own price event, or a sliding scale event. In order to do this, you will need to create a class type for your event and create multiple plans.
π This is an alternative solution Currently, Walla does not have a feature where clients can enter their own price, also known as donation or sliding scale pricing.
Step 1: Add your new class type
Follow the steps below to create a brand new class type that will be used for your donation class:
Select Classes from the main navigation menu
Choose Add New Class
Fill out the Class Details
Complete Online Booking Rules
Do not check any of the listed boxes next plans under Payment Options
Step 2: Schedule your class
Select Add to Schedule and complete scheduling details
When completing scheduling details, leave drop-in pricing unchecked. We will create separate plans clients can choose from later.
Step 3: Create plans for each payment option
Follow these steps to create the price options clients can choose from for your donation, choose your own price, or sliding scale class:
Select Plan Management from the main navigation menu
Choose Add New Plan
Select Class Plans
Complete Description and Availability details. For reporting purposes, we suggest naming your payment options the donation amounts $5 Donation, $10 Donation, $20 Donation, etc.
Choose Next and complete Price & Terms
Select Limited Plan for the plan type
Choose Usage based

βEnter β1 for the number of passes the plan issue and enter the donation amount for the price
Choose an expiry option.

You can give the pass an expiration or you can choose never expires. We suggest choosing Forever no expiration or set an expiration. Because the plan will only pay for the donation class you do not have to worry about clients using the plan to pay for other non donation based classes.

Step 4: Set up the plans to pay for the donation class only
While under the plan section Classes & Locations, select only the donation class from the class list and keep all other classes unchecked. This will associate your new plan with the donation class. Only select the plans you created for this specific event. This disallows other plans, such as your regular memberships form being used to pay for the class.
How Clients Book a Choose Your Own Price Event
The class will appear on your Class Schedule widget, along with all of your other scheduled classes.
After selecting the donation class on the class schedule widget, when clients go through the booking flow they will then select Get New Plan or Credits. If the client has other plans on their account they will be greyed out and a This plan is not eligible for this service message will be underneath the plan tile.
After proceeding to the plan options they will select the plan that will be their donation, also known as their sliding scale or choose your own amount price.
At checkout they will review the plan purchase and complete their booking. Keep in mind clients can book a class and buy the choose your own price plan. Or, they can buy the plan with out booking and book later.
Note: We are only covering purchasing a donation plan on the widget in this example. Clients will experience a similar booking flow on the Walla App.
FAQ
Can I use enrollments to create my donation class instead of using classes?
Enrollments only allow you to create member and non member pricing. You can not create multiple payment options like you can do with classes.
