Stripe Terminal FAQ

Common questions and answers about the Stripe BBPOS terminal reader

Updated over a year ago

How and when does the Stripe reader receive terminal updates?

Your reader will automatically update at midnight and it must be plugged in actively charging. The terminal restarts every day at midnight for PCI compliance and to receive updates. Leave your terminal on and connected to power overnight to receive automatic software updates.

What happens if my terminal reader is having trouble receiving updates?

In the chance your reader is having trouble updating, it is possible that it can not connect to Stripe. If a Stripe software update is interrupted, failing to install a required update can prevent a terminal from accepting payments.

What happens if the reader turns off at night or I do not charge it overnight?

If you unplug the terminal at night or if you think the update was interrupted, plug in your reader and turn it off and turn it on to force the most recent update. Be sure to leave the reader on and plugged in overnight to receive the missed update.

How long should a fully charged terminal battery last for?

The battery life of a fully charged terminal should be around 8 hours and should fully charge to 100% when left plugged in to charge over night.

Can I use my own terminal?

It is not guaranteed that your terminal will work with Walla if you use your own terminal. Also, Walla support can not assist with troubleshooting a terminal that is not the specific BBPOS Stripe reader purchased during your time with Walla.

Can the terminal connect to more than one device at the same time?

Each reader can only connect to one device. You can not switch between devices.
